The ShakespeareSolution.com is home for my thoughts on a question introduced to me in 1982 and I hope to eventually create a book and screenplay revolving around the theory.
Here we discuss the third stage of the world's greatest mystery, exactly HOW the author of the Shakespeare Canon was created from a blank slate (young child's mind) to become the world's greatest Poet, Playwright and Polymath. This focuses on the well-studied Science of Excellence and my speciality, the business of prodigy creation.
The greatest artistic superstar all is whomever used the pen name "William Shake-speare". There are two stories.
The first is a traditional myth, a glove makers son turned grain dealer with illiterate parents and illiterate daughters, who goes to London. There he becomes friends with the aristocracy learning everything about court-life, three to five languages and becoming the greatest poet of all time, all while writing and producing plays, owning a theater, becoming friends of the friends and family of the center of arts in London Edward DeVere. Then magically turns if off, goes back to Stratford, forgets how to sign his name or write a legal document.
The second starts in 1920, with a fantastic thought experiment. A Scottish schoolmaster JT Looney plucked Edward Oxenforde (DeVere) out of obscurity as the true author behind a pseudonym. He used 17 characteristics and a special shakespearean era poem. The "Who wrote the plays" had been answered, but why a pseudonym? and why the most powerful of names, one echoing the GOD of Poets. Now after 100 years of scholarship, 9,000 books and articles have revealed much of DeVere's extraordinary life. It was there, just waiting for dicovery. The 1609 "Shakespeare's Sonnets" have been understood and the same unusual message is published in the works and by many contemporary authors. DeVere was held in almost religious reverence for his abilities.
The Shakespeare Solution will publish blogs and podcasts in an attempt to discover the HOW a young mind could become so "excellent" to produce the Canon. The same mechanism that allowed for DeVere's vastly superior ability is the same that pressure that caused Oxford to bury his name. This self-destroying nihilism is seen in others masters of similar rarified ability. Childhood trauma, hyper-competitiveness and rule-making of true prodigies demanded that he become unseen or "motley to the view".
After maybe 100 years, we complete stage three of authorship, and it will all makes sense how Edward Oxenforde did and HOW to create another Shakespeare level expert in every child.
There are three stages of the Shakespeare authorship study. Stage one is "What is this?" Stage two is "Who wrote this?" Stage Three is "How did someone achieve this level of greatness?" Many minds will be required to solve the Story Arc for DeVere. "Shake-speare" was only small piece of the equation. Fortunately he wrote the Sonnets poems which were deeply personal and completely autobiographical and just need interpretation.
It is with great hope that others will embark on the same journey to discover why the traditional story of an uneducated man Stratford-upon-Avon with illiterate parents and children is a manifestation of Stage One analysis. "Oxfordianism" began 100 years ago by JT Looney to finally explain "The Who" of Stage Two.
Stage Three encompasses a thought experiment to understand "The How" behind how a human mind could become so accomplished, it must start from childhood and consider ALL FACTORS.
We have 100 years of research of Oxford, his unique writing style, very good indication of the meaning behind the poems/sonnets as well as the Science of Excellence from hundreds of other super achievers. We can reconstruct what would be his complete body of work. The First Folio, poems and Sonnets being just a fraction of his total body of work. Parsimony (the simplest solution) would suggest that the Golden Age of English was in actuality driven by just one guy. One super-performer and super-giver who gave life to entire industry of plays and poems, and when the theatres were closed focused on pamphlets, literature, translations and ecclesiastical work..
My journey began at the Blake Schools in Minneapolis in 1982 long before I understood the complexity of the plays and poems. I was assigned to read and do a final presentation on the 1909 book by Mark Twain "Is Shakespeare Dead?!?" This was my final assignment for Mr. Hatch's wonderful English class on the works of Mark Twain. i remembering asking my teacher, "what do you think?" and his reply was legendary, "well if Mark Twain (the most expert of writers) says the so, it must be"
Samuel Clemons launches a hilarious skewering of the traditional myth of Shaksper of Stratford as THE author. Twain actually begins stage two analysis with this his last and shortest book. Saying in effect "Mark Twain is not the greatest writer/humorist, that would be William Shake-speare. Both are pseudonyms and every town throughout the world celebrates their' great writers, 70 years since I have been to Hannibal MO and they still sing my praises. But 70 years after Stratford, Shaksper was unknown. Why? because he COULD NOT BE the author. He didn't have the very special family, the polymath level tutors, hundreds of books, financial support, travel to Italy, stable of writers, acting companies etc etc etc,
Twain's most famous quote 'It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled' -Mark Twain. Is a specific to the subject of the Myth of the Illiterate Shaksper of Stratford as the Bard as being the punative author. If you are a Stratfordian, you are sadly mistaken and need to be educated on the process of instilling excellence in children and adults. It doesn't just happen.
Additionally, my siblings and I were blessed with an excellent father and mentor. He was a prominent surgeon and taught me great lessons on the value of the thought experiments. Being a good doctor is about being well-educated then careful observation, analysis and prediction of diagnosis to come to a cure. He remarked that almost all great medical discoveries came from noticing the smallest of details which may be as important as the elephant in the room. Observation of all facts and careful analysis had solved almost all of the great scientific Eureka! of all time. Bacterial life, Antibiotics, Sterilization, Cancer's viral origins, all first understood via thought experiment of unusual phenomenon.. This site endeavors to use the art of the Thought Experiment, to calculate exactly how one person could push himself to deviate 10x or 100x above the grandmaster/expert level. That is the level of Shakespeares skill. .
Shakespeare/DeVere's story begins with the story of Prodigy creation, only a mozart level child prodigy with an unreal interest in poetry and plays could produce Shakespeare in adulthood. My career has been uniquely suited to this task, my goal has been to produce Adult Skill experts by the age of ten. This is also the story of becoming a polymath, (think D'Vinci or Benjamin Franklin) which should be the goal of every human, to tackle any subject without fear and become expert.
Adherence to traditional Shaksper dogma damages every child because it obfuscates the critical importance of rigorous training for children to become prodigy. The traditional myth damages every adult because it devalues hard work and inspired teaching to become skill experts. The prodigy process being critical to development of a fully realized human and master of everything (polymath).
Once again, anyone that believes the propaganda of the traditional story damages humanity. One can not become a World record holder in Competitive Swimming if you don't start very young and show an unnatural interest in the sport for 15 to 20 years. Same with almost every discipline,
Shakespeare being the skill expert of all skill experts needed a very specific set of circumstances. An unusual family, the best teachers, the hardest work ethic, unfettered access to rare books/playhouses/acting troupes and massive support both financial and secretarial. 100 years of Oxford scholarship has shown that DeVere was at the center of the literary world and was without a doubt the brain behind Shakespeare.
